A by-election to fill the Matabeleland South seat on the National Council of Chiefs, vacant after the death of Chief Ndube, was set for 28 March 2026 at 10am in Gwanda.
The President has proclaimed a by-election to fill a vacancy on the National Council of Chiefs for Matabeleland South Province, left by the death of Chief Ndube (Nonhlahla Sibanda).
The by-election was set for Saturday, 28 March 2026, at the Provincial Administrator's Boardroom, Government Building, Gwanda, at 10 o'clock in the morning. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission conducts it under section 285(4) of the Constitution and Part X of the Electoral Act, applied with any necessary modifications.
Under section 37(5) of the Traditional Leaders Act, the provincial assembly of chiefs that elected the late chief elects another chief from among its members to fill the vacancy.
The proclamation was signed on 27 February 2026.
