Proclamation 4 of 2026
The tribunal inquiring into whether Justice Never Katiyo should be removed from office may now extend its inquiry by a further three months after its initial five months.
The President has amended the proclamation in S.I. 54 of 2026, which established a tribunal to inquire into the question of removing Justice Never Katiyo from office.
Paragraph (d) of that proclamation gave the tribunal an initial five months. The amendment inserts, after the words "initial five months", the words "with an option of an extension of a further three (3) months after the expiry of the initial five months".
The proclamation says the change was needed to amend the period within which the tribunal must conclude its inquiry. It does not say who decides whether the extension is used. The day of signing is left blank in the published text, and the gazette heads the instrument "Statutory Instrument 33 of 2026".
