Proclamation 6 of 2025
A by-election is called for Nkulumane after the death of MP Desire Moyo: nomination court sits 20 November 2025 in Bulawayo, with polling on Saturday 20 December 2025 if a poll is needed.
By Proclamation 6 of 2025, the President has ordered a new election for the Nkulumane National Assembly constituency in Bulawayo.
The Speaker of Parliament notified the President in writing on 31 October 2025 of the vacancy caused by the death of Honourable Desire Moyo on 10 October 2025, the elected member for Nkulumane. Section 39(2) of the Electoral Act requires the President, on such notification, to proclaim a new election to fill the vacancy in the same manner as a general election.
The nomination court sits on Thursday 20 November 2025 at 10am at the Magistrates' Court, Court 5, Tredgold Building, Leopold Takawira Avenue, Bulawayo, to receive nominations of candidates.
If a poll becomes necessary under section 46(17)(c) of the Electoral Act — that is, if more than one candidate is validly nominated — it will be taken on Saturday 20 December 2025.
The proclamation was given under the President's hand and the Public Seal at Harare on 6 November 2025 and published in an Extraordinary Gazette that day.
