Statute Law Compilation and Revision (Assignment of Chapter Numbers) Notice, 2024

The National Security Act, 2023 becomes Chapter 11:24 and the Institute of Chartered Loss Control and Private Security Management Act, 2023 becomes Chapter 27:23 — both were passed without Chapter numbers.

The Law Reviser has assigned Chapter numbers to two Acts that were enacted in 2023 without them.

The National Security Act, 2023 (Act No. 1 of 2023) is to be read as if section 1 substituted "[Chapter 11:24]" for "2023". The Institute of Chartered Loss Control and Private Security Management Act, 2023 (Act No. 2 of 2023) is to be read as if section 1 substituted "[Chapter 27:23]".

The explanatory note, which is not part of the notice, confirms the reason: both Acts were enacted without Chapter numbers, and this notice supplies them.

This is a housekeeping instrument. It changes nothing in the substance of either Act, but it does change how they are cited. Anyone drafting pleadings, contracts or further legislation should now cite the National Security Act [Chapter 11:24] and the Institute of Chartered Loss Control and Private Security Management Act [Chapter 27:23] rather than by Act number and year.

The instrument states no commencement date. Note that the text as extracted contains the notice printed twice; there is only one set of assignments.
